Project Coordinator: Nancy Ballard/Andres Torres
Lead Designer: Linda Cavanaugh
Story Board Due: June 20, 2013
We have been wooing this hospital for several years. A dear friend, Linda Cavanaugh lost her husband to cancer two years ago. He had chemotherapy in this facility and we promised her we would not give up until she had a chance to rock a room for her husband, Ken. All four rooms will follow Linda’s theme of birch trees with stencils donated from Cutting Edge Stencils. All wall art will be donated by Art.com. The enviroments will be soothing and organic.
Several of the “designers” are not designers at all, rather friends and fellow art class members of Linda. All have lost loved ones to cancer, making our El Camino project very unique.
The three additional patient rooms will be transformed with the same birch tree motief. Vounteers who will be rocking these rooms are: The Master Botanical Art Class headed by Mary L. Harden with fellow artists Mary Ann Ho, Catherine Delor and Judy Ellis.
Janet Paraventi-Holt is volunteering her time in honor of her brother-in-law and father, both of whom passed away from cancer.
RTR4C Designer Marsha Heckman who was our lead designer at Children’s Hospital in Oakland, CA in April 2013, will complete our private room team.
The break room will be designed by RTR4C Designer, HGTV Designer Cora Sue Anthony and her assistant Andres Torres. Her design will transform the staff break room into a 1940’s travel paradise with decals donated again by Art.Com
