Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo (RTR4C) Announces Inaugural Gala

SAN FRANCISCO (June 18, 2014) — Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo (RTR4C) – a nonprofit organization devoted to transforming chemotherapy rooms into a renewal of health, hope and life has announced its Inaugural Gala to be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Hotel Nikko, 222 Mason Street, San Francisco, California. All proceeds will go towards supporting the mission of RTR4C.

The Gala will be a black-tie affair, bringing together Bay Area community leaders, business executives and leading corporations, along with family and friends for a very special evening celebrating life through words, color and rooms that rock. The evening is dedicated to celebrating the strength of the human spirit and making a meaningful difference for those fighting cancer every day. Guests will enjoy fine food and wine against a backdrop of music and guest speakers, as well as both live and silent auctions.
“We are blessed with the many volunteers and generous donors who have made a positive difference in the lives of so many, yet this has only been the beginning as we have dozens of ‘needy’ clinical rooms in our community,” said Nancy Linebarger Ballard, founder of Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo. “Only with the contributions of individuals and corporations have we been transforming chemotherapy rooms – one room at a time — into beautiful, tranquil, healing places. It is our vision, and my dream, to transform every single chemotherapy room, in every hospital, in every city around the world until each room reflects the beauty, strength and hope of the human spirit.”

Corporate sponsorships and table purchases are available. To inquire about sponsorships or attendance, please contact Judy Davies, RTR4C Gala Chair at judy@roomsthatrock4chemo.org.

About RoomsThatRock4Chemo:
RoomsThatRock4Chemo (RTR4C) – a nonprofit organization devoted to creating positive, healing and uplifting spaces that support those dealing with chemotherapy – was established in 2011 by Nancy Linebarger Ballard, an accomplished artist and published author, following a hospital visit where she first noted tiny, drab chemotherapy rooms. She instinctively and immediately donated her own artwork to enliven the on-site chemotherapy rooms. Supported by a team of talented interior designers, community and corporate sponsors, RTR4C has been transforming chemotherapy rooms and offering respite from an environment that can often be sterile and scary for patients and their family members. As the hospital atmosphere is transformed, the emotional well-being, comfort and hope in patients’ lives is positively impacted. For more information, visit www.roomsthatrock4chemo.com

Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo Commands Heavy-Hitting Attention

Original Article Written for Auvé Daily

On November 1, the grand ballroom of the Hotel Nikko was transformed into a sea of optimism, hope and success for the Rooms that Rock 4 Chemo (RTR4C) inaugural gala. The nonprofit organization devoted to transforming chemotherapy rooms into beautiful and inspiring spaces drew some serious attention from heavy-hitters like Dianne Feinstein, Richard Blum and the Honorable Willie Brown, among many.

The black tie fundraiser, hosted by KGO’s Don Sanchez, was a dynamic event that featured education, performances, silent and live auctions, a fashion show and dancing. The evening began with performances by X-factor TV star Jason Brock and San Francisco virtuoso violonist Lea Bourgade, both of whom delighted the audience.

Following the perfomance, guests were treated to a 3-course dinner, during which guests had an opportunity to learn about and support RTR4C’s vision with a touching speech made by founder Nancy Ballard. The Honorable Mayor Willie Brown then took the stage for a passionate endorsement of the impact Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo has made in the city of San Francisco.

After such an impassioned speech, the room was abuzz and poised for a live auction led by the auctioneer Abra Annes. The formidable Abra set the bids high for the “Fund-a-Need” with a $25K goal. Within less than one minute, Mr Richard Blum stunned guests by raising his paddle to make the $25K bid. Needless to say, Mr. Blum received a standing ovation.

Standing UP To Cancer, One Chemo Room At A Time

Written by Alex Regenstreich for SF Wire

The Inaugural Fundraising Gala for Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo (RTR4C), a locally born, national non-profit that transformed chemotherapy rooms into beautiful, healing environments. The sold-out, black-tie affair was held at Hotel Nikko in San Francisco with an impressive evening full of fine dining, music, dancing and silent and live auctions punctuated by the featured event, Couture fashion show by Vasily Vein, whose exuberant gowns have made the Russian-born designer a rising star in fashion. Master botanical illustrator, Nancy Ballard, founded RTR4C in May 2011. “I was at a routine check up with my general practitioner, who is also an oncology doctor and I had one of my Iris paintings under my arm when a nurse wished out loud what a great thing it would be to have this type of art in their chemotherapy rooms,” which are often dark, drab rooms without much color, warmth or feeling of hope. Ballard asked for a tour and was devastated to see these environments the way they were. “I went home and came across an interior design resource on the Internet called Houzz and I contacted over 20 local designers.” 4 of them got back to her and offered to volunteer their time and resources. In fact, much of the support Ballard receives is by the family of those affected by cancer. “This gives them the release.”

Since launching in 2011, RTR4C has transformed 150 rooms that serve more than 800K patient visits per year in 15 facilities across the United States and San Salvador, but that is just the start. Ballard’s future vision for RTR4C, “every room.” RTR4C is 100% supported by volunteers in local communities that include designers, artists, sponsors and local vendors. It was an inspiring evening that shows what one person looking to make a difference, one room at a time, can accomplish.

Among those in attendance were: United States Senator from California, Dianne Feinstein and former mayor of San Francisco, Willie Brown.

Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo Pre-Gala Launch PartyOn September 10, Jimmy Choo was abuzz with socialites buying shoes. This sole-filled soiree was a pre-gala launch party to help promote and raise funds for Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo (RTR4C). Founded in 2011 and based in San Francisco, RTR4C is a nonprofit organization devoted to transforming chemotherapy rooms into a renewal of health, hope and life.

The event attracted nearly 200 guests—which was way too many beautiful people in such a small space; at one point, the Jimmy Choos were flying off the shelves faster than they could pour the champagne. Guests mingled, nibbled, sipped and opened up their wallets to support a great cause. In addition to hosting the launch party, Jimmy Choo will also donate a percentage of the evening’s proceeds to support RTR4C’s mission. By the looks of the crowd, a lot of money was raised!

RTR4C will host its Inaugural Gala on Saturday, November 1, at the Hotel Nikko, 222 Mason Street in San Francisco. The gala will bring together Bay Area community leaders, business executives and leading corporations, along with family and friends, for a very special evening celebrating life through words, color and rooms that rock. The gala will be dedicated to celebrating the strength of the human spirit and making a meaningful difference for those fighting cancer every day.

Tickets start at $300 and are available for purchase at bit.ly/roomsthatrock.
