RTR4C is excited to be rocking the upcoming workout room at the Family House Mission Bay Facility in February 2016!
The Family House of UCSF is moving from two facilities in the Inner Sunset of San Francisco to a fabulous new facility in the Mission Bay Area of San Francisco. We were asked to design the “workout room” that families will have access to while staying at the facility as their child/sibling undergoes treatment and we can’t wait!
The average time of a family’s stay… one year!
Family House serves as a home away from home for families of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses by providing physical comfort and emotional support, free from financial concerns. Founded in 1981, Family House is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization providing temporary housing to families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at the University of California San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital. Qualifying families live more than 50 miles from UCSF, and many live at or below the low-income status as determined by UCSF. Their two locations sustain nearly a 100% occupancy rate and can accommodate 107 people per night. Over the course of a year they serve more than 2,000 families.
RTR4C will transform one large workout room for families to enjoy while supporting a child/sibling going through treatment, complete with an Action Wall encouraging walking, running, playing, and involvement in other sports to keep busy and in shape.
