Project Description

It has always been Nancy Ballard’s dream to transform a children’s hospital and when she received an introduction to Children’s Hospital Oakland, she was more than excited. It was quite large and needed everything – all the walls needed a fresh coat of paint, new privacy curtains were needed and some good cheer and sparkle to help kids and their families during this most difficult time. To see cribs at the center was a true and rude awaking that cancer has no boundaries.

Other transformations: Entire outpatient chemotherapy unit (including playrooms, hallways, nurse’s station, nurses break room, waiting rooms, bathrooms and private treatment rooms) using paint, stencils, decals, wall art, ceiling sky tiles and new privacy curtains.

Sponsors: Art.Com, Cutting Edge Stencils, Behr Paint, Home Depot, Serenity MedSpa (SF)

Designers: Lead designer, Marsha Heckman, Cora Sue Anthony, Melka Myers, Andrea Greer, Shannon Gies – Muralist

On-Site Volunteers: 90
