The story of “Ken’s Room of Kindness”: Nancy Ballard knew of this facility as her friend, Linda Cavanaugh spent many days in these rooms with her son, Ian, and requested we transform them. Linda’s husband, Ken, was diagnosed in 2010 with kidney cancer and had been a patient of Dr. Dormady’s. Ken always had said, “The rooms could be a little nicer” and so, we were able to have Linda design the rooms with what she thought Ken would like. And so did, indeed, make them a little nicer! It was inspiring to work side by side with my dear friend Linda, our art colleges and friends, and her family and friends that were able to help in Linda’s quest for a peaceful room, just like Ken.
