In January 2016, Rooms That Rock 4 Chemo was gifted a grant to transform a chemotherapy facility in the Los Angeles Area – our first in Southern California! We were fortunate to find Dr. Phillis Wu, an oncologist with Olive View – UCLA Medical Center. Together we planned an amazing weekend of transformation, rocking a total of 17 rooms, impacting the lives of over 2,000 patients (plus staff & visitors) per year! See the complete room transformation here.
This time, the clinic specifically serves women, including pregnant woman afflicted by cancer. The doctor in charge of the clinic has made every effort to provide a tranquil space but more is needed to truly makes this a healing space.
Working with local artists, designers, and community organizations, our 100% volunteer team will transform 13 exam rooms, 2 nursing rooms, 1 physician charting room and 1 clerical staff office.
We envision a space where patients are welcomed by soothing colors and beautiful art that ultimately provides a deep sense of calm and hope to support them on their journey.
We want to bring the beautiful life of the outdoors into the clinic. The design includes beautiful skylights that mimic a blue sky and fluffy clouds, colorful stencils, and soothing artwork. New privacy curtains will be installed in each exam room.
Together, with your support, this space alone will help us make a difference in the lives of thousands of women. Having to be in these rooms is a hard enough journey on its own. Our goal is to transform the their experience by creating a tranquil and healing environment for every single patient.
