FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Almost everyone knows someone who has experienced the exhausting and almost daily routine of chemotherapy and radiation.
The UC Cancer Institute understands fully that this is a difficult time for patients and their families. Studies reveal the physical environment where one receives treatment impacts a person’s healing process. The UC Health Barrett Cancer Center is a place where a multidisciplinary team approach is taken with each individual patient.
Our team is now working with another team- Rooms that Rock 4 Chemo (RTR4C), to create a positive, healing and uplifting space that spiritually and emotionally supports patients coping with chemotherapy. When complete this project will benefit 10,000 cancer patients per year!
RTR4C is a national nonprofit organization and this will be their first project in Cincinnati to transform the chemotherapy infusion areas and radiation oncology lobby in the Barrett Center. They will arrive on Saturday with a designer from HGTV to reveal to UC Health, the concept and the theme they have come up with for the transformation area.
This is a $200,000 project and we are relying on the generosity of the community to make it possible. Construction will take place over two weekends in April 2014.
We are pleased to announce that Fifth Third Bank has joined the project as a Superstar Rocker Sponsor at $30,000.
This is a great opportunity for families, corporations and foundations to sponsor an infusion suite for $10,000 or an infusion chair for $2,500 in honor or in memory of a loved one impacted by cancer. Donations of all amounts are welcome.
How can you be a sponsor or donor? Make your gift on-line at www.uchealth.kintera.org/RTR4C or mail your check made payable to the UC Health Foundation with a note about Rooms That Rock to 3200 Burnet Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45229.
